# Bounty

Adds details to the bounty docs: bounties have a start date, and the $STX reward is locked in a Clarity smart contract until the client picks a winner, then released automatically.

## Bounties Overview

The bounties system connects clients with people ready to take on specific tasks and projects: clients post bounties, manage submissions, and reward the best work with $STX, the native cryptocurrency of the Stacks blockchain. What a bounty is, why it runs onchain and how to create one are covered in [Bounty Onchain](https://zeroauthoritydao.ai/docs/work/bounties.md).

Details this page adds:

* **Start Date**: besides the end date, a bounty has a start date, when it opens for submissions.
* **Reward in a Clarity contract**: the $STX reward is locked in a Clarity smart contract until the client selects a winner, then released to the winner automatically.
* **Transparency**: all transactions and contract interactions are recorded on the Stacks blockchain.
