Nova Warp

Warp turns your Discord channel and your Telegram group into one chat: what a member posts on one side appears on the other within seconds, under their name. Warp is a Community PRO feature.

In short

Warp links one Discord channel and one Telegram group or topic into a single live chat: messages, replies, edits and deletions cross within seconds under the member's name, with no cross-pinging. Community PRO.

🌀 Warped from Discord

On Telegram, a message from Discord shows the author's emoji, their name and where it came from. Each Discord member gets their own emoji in your server and keeps it, so regulars are easy to spot. On Discord, a message from Telegram shows the member's name and Telegram profile photo. A member without a visible photo gets a plain avatar in one of Telegram's colors.

Every copied message ends with a small 🌀 Warped from Telegram line (or from Discord on Telegram), so nobody mistakes a copy for the member's own account.

Replies show who they answer and the start of that message, an edited message is edited on the other side, and a deleted one is deleted there too.

Talking to Nova works on both sides. A message to Nova crosses like any other (the @mention just doesn't work on the other side), and Nova's answer appears in both chats, as a reply to the question. Members on either side can reply to Nova's answer to keep the conversation going. A reply to one of Nova's alerts crosses too, with a short quote of the alert.

When a chat moves faster than the platforms allow a bot to post, the waiting messages arrive together as one message instead of being lost.

Italic, underline, strikethrough, code and spoilers cross both ways, and a spoiler stays hidden. Bold text crosses as plain text, so nobody can make their message look like another member's name line. A reply to an older message carries a short quote of it, a Telegram album arrives as one message, a forwarded message is marked as forwarded (never with who it came from), and a very long message is cut with a link to the original.

CrossesMembers' messages in the linked channel (Discord) and the linked chat or topic (Telegram), messages to Nova and Nova's answers to them, replies, edits and deletions
Crosses as a fileOne image, GIF or video per message, up to 8 MB
Crosses as a noteBigger files, albums, media under a spoiler and other files show as a short note such as [🖼️ image]; a poll shows its question and options, a sticker its emoji
Never crossesNova's alerts and other posts (each side has its own), other bots' messages, commands, other channels and topics, threads inside the linked Discord channel, messages of members who opted out (and Nova's answers to them), and staff messages when Keep staff messages on this side is on
Never happensNobody is pinged across, links never open a preview, and a link cannot hide behind other text

A message deleted by a moderator or by Guardian is removed on the other side too, and one removed within a second or two never crosses. A purge or a raid cleanup is removed in one go. Deleting a copy only removes the copy: each side's moderators moderate their own side. A mention of a channel most members cannot see shows as #private-channel on Telegram.

If the link stops on its own (Community PRO ended, the linked Discord channel was deleted or made private), both chats are told Warp is paused, and told again when it is back.

Set it up

  1. In your Discord server, as an admin, in the channel to link (one every member can read):

"@Nova link this channel with our Telegram group"

  2. In your Telegram group, as an admin, in the main chat or in the forum topic to link:

"@Nova link this chat with our Discord"

  3. The link opens as soon as both sides are on, and Nova posts the notice in both chats.
  4. Check on it any time with "@Nova is Warp on?": it says what is linked and anything to fix. To move it: "@Nova warp #general instead". To stop: "@Nova stop the bridge" (both chats are told).

The Discord server and the Telegram group must belong to the same community on Nova (link the second one with an activation code from the Community Settings dashboard). The Warp card under Nova Orbit there shows whether the two chats are linked, lets you pick the channel (only channels every member can read are offered) and lists anything to fix. Moving the link to another channel or topic tells the old one it was unlinked.

A general chat behind a member role. If @everyone sees nothing until members get a role (like @Member or @Verified), name that role when you turn Warp on: "@Nova link this channel with our Telegram group, the member role is @Member". Nova accepts a role only when most of the server has it, and never a role with moderation or admin permissions, so a staff channel can never be linked.

Options (per side, in chat or on the Warp card):

  • Who can manage Warp in chat (Discord): server admins only (default), or admins and moderators (members who can manage messages, time out, kick or ban). Only an admin can change it. On Telegram every group admin can already manage Warp. Your dashboard team manages it from the Warp card either way.
  • Keep staff messages on this side: messages from moderators and admins (Telegram: group admins) are not copied to the other platform. Members' messages still cross.
